A memoir of war, wound, and the woman who wouldn't let go.
Kato Martinez · Gail's Dragonfly LLC
This book is about a combat wound. It is also about a mother's love — the kind that doesn't stop at distance or danger or grief. Kato Martinez writes about the years before deployment, the moment that changed everything, the long work of recovery, and the woman whose influence made survival feel worth the effort.
Her Love Still Carries Us is named for Gail Martinez, who died in 2019. She never stopped believing in the life her son was still building. This book is built around that belief — and it carries inside it a model of resilience that Kato now teaches to thousands of people every year.
This is not a book about being unbreakable. It is a book about what happens when you break — who holds you, who you become, and how you find a way to carry that forward into everything that follows.

The wound doesn't end your story. Sometimes it's where the story finally begins.
